Capture the Flag level FAQ
===========================

In order to create levels for my CTF conversion you need to have
the build editor that comes with the original duke3d. It also helps
if you have read through a level faq of some sort or the buildhlp.exe
file.

It is actually pretty simple I've split it up into seperate sections
though. First...

=====
FLAGS
=====

The tiles for the flags are,

Red flag - 55
Blue Flag - 61

You just place them in the level wherever you want them to be hidden.
Easy as can be.

Multiple flag dispensers are for use in levels with multiple flag bases
they have a stock of 10 flags each. and look like a flag on a cannister.
They are tile number 1227. I suggest that these be placed in the other teams
base, ie the red flag dispenser in the blue base and vice versa however you
could hide them in the level.
To make a red flag dispenser press alt and p on the sprite in build and type
in 21 ie change the spritepal to 21.

=====
BASES
=====

The single flag bases are tile number 1238 they require 1 flag to win.
The multiple flag bases are tile number 1062 they require 10 flags to win.

for a blue base just leave the palette
but for a red base put the spritepal to 21.

Make sure that the base is flush with a wall by pressing 'R' on the sprite.

==================
LEVEL RESTRICTIONS
==================

Levels can not include any of the harmful floor tiles like the floor plasma,
green slime and electric floor. The game will not work properly if these are
included.

=============
MISCELLANEOUS
=============

All levels made for CTF will also work with the standard confiles as a standard
dukematch level. This also means that any dukematch or other level can be converted for
CTF as well.

You don't have to put just 1 flag in the map, single flag win games can be even more
fun if there is more than 1 person with a flag, try experimenting. Games inevitably
will be shorter however.

There does not have to be 2 specific bases, all you need is the base sprites, this
may mean that base guarding would become very difficult and also make games a lot
harder for people trying to return flags.

A start room would be good as players can change team colours before launching into
the fray. You can use altgrp to copy one from the standard levs or you could build
your own.

In multiple flag maps cameras could be placed in front of bases for score checks
( viewscreens being in each base ).

I would like to see your levels and put them on my website so if you have made or
converted a level please send it to me @

DukeCTF@hotmail.com

I also provide support for problems with my conversion.

Thanx,

Mike Channell ( Mighty 7 )
